Immortals fenyx rising dlc roadmap5/15/2023 "We really connected with the mythological aspects of ancient Greece," Dumont said. For us quality was the way to answer to all those challenges."Īssassin's Creed Odyssey delved deep into the world of Greek mythology, but as creative director Jonathan Dumont previously said, "the gods, the monsters, the legends, the myths are all great, but building an Assassin's Creed game limits what you can tap into" - enter Immortals. We did all we can to deliver the best experience possible, even with the work from home and all the great releases we’ve seen over the year. But it’s also what makes it exciting and worth trying. Especially if it’s something that moves away from a known recipe. "Starting a new IP is always a challenge and risk. So what was it like to launch a new IP - and one that's so different from Ubisoft's recent releases - in the middle of all the complications of the last year? "It was indeed quite the journey," Galloudec says. It’s a bit bold and risky for a new IP – but so exciting and different!" Starting a new IP must be intimidating enough, without even taking into account 2020 itself. Going from a challenging endgame challenge, to a new mythology and then a new type of game – but all in the continuity of the main game universe and story, expending the brand and its lore toward new and unexpected horizons. It was just an experiment, but it looked great, and several of us were excited by what we could do with it, both in gameplay but also progression system."įor Galloudec, the "most exciting" thing about the new expansions "is to experience the variety of those adventures. Then there was a wish in the team to explore the top down gameplay, following a quick prototype built as we were working on the main game. "We didn’t want to do “more of the same” but explore new possibilities. "It first comes from our intention to use the post launch as an opportunity to expand the horizon of the brand, not only in terms of story and setting, but also game experience," Galloudec says. Along with this new top-down perspective and the brawler approach to combat, Galloudec says "there is also a totally new progression system that is quite deep" and a "new game structure." It seems like quite a change from Myths of the Eastern Realms and Immortals Fenyx Rising itself, and we asked Galloudec how the team decided on such a shift in gameplay. Fenyx, now the God of Unity, has recruited Ash to recover the missing Olympians, who have abandoned their homes and are causing chaos across the world. The Lost Gods features the mortal Ash as the new hero, and introduces a new style of gameplay with a brawler style of combat and a top-down isometric view. Galloudec says we'll see new puzzle mechanics and "a new mechanic for the combo system" in Myths of the Eastern Realms, but that it's in The Lost Gods where we will see "the most changes and novelty compared to the rest." After a war between Heaven and Earth, Ku was the only one to escape being turned into clay, and sets off to to face new gods and monsters with the help of the Goddess Nuwa and the Phoenix. Myths of the Eastern Realms introduces Ku as the new player-character, in a new land and with a story based around Chinese mythology.
